BMW

***PRO TIP*** (especially for iDrive BMWs - most 5 series 2017+

Many BMWs require you to drive for a period of time to learn new sensor codes...to avoid this, try to use the codes already in the ECU.

  1. Plug into OBD
  2. Ignition on (engine off)...sometimes you need to start car and then hit off button to get ignition fully on.
  3. Enter Program sensor on TPMS tool and use Copy by OBD.
  4. Be careful to use the right sensor code if only replacing one sensor. (If replacing original sensor, the old sensor has the code/id written in tiny writing on sensor)
  5. No relearn needed now and no drive needed.
  6. If car TPMS status page isn't displaying a pressure reading, just trigger the sensor and it should pull in the pressure.

Once you have properly inflated your tires, the tire pressure light should automatically go off. However, if it doesn’t, there are a few different things that you can try:

  • Drive at or above 50 mph to reset the sensor for 10 minutes. This causes your sensor to reset the next time you turn on your car.
  • With the vehicle off, turn the key to the “On” position, but do not start the car. Hold the TPMS reset button until the tire pressure light blinks three times, then release it. Start the car and wait about 20 minutes for the sensor to refresh. You will find the tire pressure monitor reset button under the steering wheel. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual if you can’t find it.
  • Inflate all tires, including the spare tire, to 3 PSI over their recommended amount, then deflate them completely. Once they’re all deflated, reinflate to the recommended tire pressure.
  • With the vehicle off, use a wrench to disconnect the positive battery cable. Turn the car on and honk the horn for about three seconds. This will discharge any power that’s still stored in the vehicle. Then reconnect the battery.
