Manual relearn – steering column lever

1. Activate sensors with the TPMS tool
2. Ignition ON
3. Press the reset button on the steering column lever
4. Use the rocker switch in the instrument cluster to select SET, then press Reset
5. Use the rocker switch again to select Tire Pressure and press Reset
6. Select Store Tire Pressure and press Reset

Manual relearn – centre console (MMI)

1. Activate sensors with the TPMS tool
2. Ignition ON
3. Press the MENU button
4. Use the rotary push button to select CAR
5. Select SET
6. Select Tire Pressure
7. Select Store Pressure (or Wheel Change)
8. Press to confirm

Manual relearn (CAR menu)

1. Activate sensors with the TPMS tool
2. Ignition ON
3. Press CAR and select TIRE PRESSURE
4. Select STORE CURRENT
5. Drive for up to 20 minutes

Indirect system (no sensors in the tyres)

A4 / S4 8K D8 2011–2019

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Apply the parking brake
3. Ignition ON
4. Select CAR, then press MENU to go to the next screen
5. Select Servicing and checks
6. Select Tire Pressure Monitoring
7. Calibration completes automatically

Auto relearn

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Drive for about 20 minutes – the sensors are picked up automatically

Manual relearn – drive

1. Apply the handbrake
2. Inflate tyres to the correct pressure
3. Ignition ON
4. Press the VEHICLE function key on the instrument cluster
5. Drive for 15 minutes

Copy by OBD (no relearn, no drive)

1. Plug the tool into the OBD port
2. Ignition ON, engine off (sometimes you need to start the car, then press the stop button to get full ignition)
3. On the TPMS tool, go to Program sensor → Copy by OBD
4. If replacing only one sensor, pick the right ID – the old sensor has it printed in small writing
5. No relearn or drive needed
6. If the car's TPMS page shows no pressure, trigger the sensor and it will pull the reading in

5 Series E39 (1997–2003)

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Ignition ON
3. Press RESET until the warning light turns yellow and flashes
4. Drive for up to 5 minutes

5 Series E60 / E61 (2003–2011) with iDrive

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Ignition ON
3. Open the iDrive menu and select SETTINGS
4. Select VEHICLE → TPMS → RESET
5. Drive for up to 5 minutes

5 Series E60 / E61 (2003–2011) without iDrive

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Ignition ON
3. Hold the TIRE PRESSURE WARNING button until the TPMS light comes on
4. Drive for up to 5 minutes

5 Series F10 / F07 (2010–2016), G30 / G31 (2017–2019), GT (2017) with iDrive

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Ignition ON
3. In iDrive select SETTINGS → CAR / TIRES
4. Select CONFIRM TIRE PRESSURE
5. Drive for up to 5 minutes

5 Series F10 / F07 (2010–2016), G30 / G31 (2017–2019), GT (2017) without iDrive

1. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
2. Ignition ON
3. Tap the turn-signal lever up or down until TPMS / RESET is shown
4. Hold the button on the end of the lever until a tick appears
5. Drive for up to 5 minutes

1 Series (2010–2013), 3 Series (2011–2013), 6 Series (2011–2013), X1 (2013), X3 (2012–2013), X5 / X6 (2011–2013), Z4 (2011–2013) with iDrive

1. Ignition ON
2. Go to Vehicle Info → Vehicle Status
3. Select Reset TPM
4. Start the engine, keep the car stationary
5. Start the reset with Reset TPM
6. Drive for 10–15 minutes
7. When done, the screen shows Status: TPM Active with all tyres green

Once the tyres are correctly inflated the warning light should go out by itself. If it doesn't, try these in order:

1. Drive at 50 mph (80 km/h) or more for 10 minutes. The sensor resets the next time you start the car.
2. Engine off, turn the key to ON (don't start). Hold the TPMS reset button (under the steering wheel – check the handbook if you can't find it) until the light blinks 3 times. Start the car and wait about 20 minutes.
3. Inflate all tyres, including the spare, to 3 PSI over the recommended pressure, deflate them completely, then reinflate to the correct pressure.
4. Engine off, disconnect the positive battery cable. Switch on and sound the horn for about 3 seconds to drain stored power, then reconnect the battery.

Auto relearn

Huracán · Gallardo · Aventador

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Open the vehicle settings menu
3. Go to the TPMS menu
4. Perform relearn
5. Drive for 10–20 minutes above 32 km/h (20 mph)

Some cars need more than one attempt.

Relearn – drive (after fitting replacement sensors)

1. Leave the car stationary for at least 15 minutes
2. If needed, put the car into relearn mode with the dashboard controls
3. Drive above 32 km/h (20 mph) until the new sensor IDs are learned

Once the tyres are correctly inflated the warning light should go out by itself. If it doesn't, try these in order:

1. Drive at 50 mph (80 km/h) or more for 10 minutes. The sensor resets the next time you start the car.
2. Engine off, turn the key to ON (don't start). Hold the TPMS reset button (under the steering wheel – check the handbook if you can't find it) until the light blinks 3 times. Start the car and wait about 20 minutes.

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard and switch off non-original Wi-Fi / Bluetooth devices
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. Press the forward / back button on the steering wheel until trip and odometer are shown
4. Press UP / DOWN until the tyre pressure monitor is shown
5. Hold the reset button on the instrument cluster until MONITOR CURRENT TIRE PRESSURE? appears
6. Press + until TYRE PRESS. MONITOR ACTIVATED appears
7. If REACTIVATE TYRE PRESS. MONITOR! appears, repeat the procedure. If CHECK TIRES! appears, a pressure is too low – adjust it
8. Drive for at least 10 minutes so the system learns the new sensor IDs

Auto relearn

E-Class (2000–2009)

1. Confirm the sensors are fitted correctly
2. Adjust tyre pressures to the placard value
3. Activate the sensors with the TPMS tool
4. Drive for up to 10 minutes

Dash reset – 2015 Mercedes (video)

Type 1 – indicator stalk button (all models)

1. Start the engine, keep the car stationary
2. Tap the button on the indicator stalk until SET / INFO is shown
3. Hold the button until the display changes
4. Tap the button until the TPM symbol and ACTIVE are shown
5. Select RESET
6. Hold the button until RESETTING appears
7. Drive – after a few minutes the warning light goes out

Type 2 – TPM button behind the gear selector

1. Start the engine, keep the car stationary
2. Hold the TPM button behind the gear selector until the warning light shows yellow for a few seconds
3. Drive – after a few minutes the warning light goes out

Relearn – tyre settings menu

6. Drive for 20–25 minutes – wheel positions are learned during normal driving

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard – the system relearns during normal driving

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Open the vehicle settings menu
3. Go to the tyre pressure menu
4. Perform relearn
5. Drive up to 10 miles (16 km) above 15 mph (24 km/h)

Indirect TPMS – most VW models

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. Hold the TPMS reset button until the light blinks 3 times, then release
4. Start the car and let it run for 20 minutes

After tyre rotation / replacement (direct TPMS)

2. Apply the parking brake, ignition ON, engine off
3. Hold the SET (or ESP) button next to the gear lever until you hear a beep – this confirms the relearn

After sensor replacement (direct TPMS) – same models

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Apply the parking brake
3. Leave the car standing for 20 minutes so the module enters learn mode
4. Drive above 16 mph (26 km/h) to register the new IDs

Jetta 2006–2010 – if the above fails

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. In the info centre set-up menu select TIRE PRESSURE → STORE
4. SYSTEM LEARNING shows, then clears after a few minutes' driving

Indirect TPMS – glovebox SET button

Beetle (2011–2015) · Golf (2012–2015) · GTI (2013–2015) · Jetta (2011–2019) · Passat (2012–2015)

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. Press the SET button in the glovebox for at least 2 seconds
4. The TPMS light goes out after a chime

Phaeton (2007–2010), Touareg 2 (2008–2010)

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. Press VEHICLE to open the tyre pressure menu
4. Press RDK to enable tyre pressure control
5. If there's a sensor in the spare, select SPARE WHEEL MONITORING
6. Press NEW TARGET PRESSURES to save the current pressures

Touareg 2 (2011–2015)

1. Inflate all tyres to the pressure on the tyre placard
2. Ignition ON, engine off
3. Press MENU on the instrument cluster
4. Use the thumbwheel to select TIRE PRESSURE
5. Select STORE

2. Drive above 25 mph (40 km/h) for more than 10 minutes
